Ocean's of Love

Most of the prints that I do, are my own work.  Funnily enough, I think I can't draw.  I am certainly no artist.  I guess that is just my own being "down on myself" thing.  Takes me back to high school art class.... and then all the way through Fashion School.  I never thought I could draw, but somehow I got by.... and actually I got great marks! So now with my own clothing line, I need to come up with NEW art for my prints every year.  Its daunting.... especially when you consider yourself "art challenged". I often find photos of real shells or real ocean objects, put them on a lightbox and paint over them with ink, adding a swirl or...

NEW summer essentials

One of the most exciting new additions to our line for Summer 2019, are our JUTE bags.  I have never done a bag using jute before, as we normally do our cotton printed bags, but I do love the strength and durability of raw jute.  What exactly is jute anyway?  Jute is a natural vegetable fibre that is one of the strongest natural fibres around, it comes from the CORCHORUS PLANT, which is commonly found in India and Bangladesh.  The plant grows fully within 5-7 months, it is a rain-fed crop that needs no fertiliser to thrive.  Here is a photo of the plant, and you can read more about it if you click here. Jute is such a strong fibre it...

Nautical Jewelry LOVE

Being the social media snoop that I am, I came across this line of beautiful nautical jewelry which I just loved.  I started talking to the designer and we worked out a way that I could include her gorgeous jewelry on our website.  Click here to find it.  I had to know more about this talented lady, so I asked Jen to send me some photos of herself and her workspace to share with you guys "our island family".... what she sent me was just as adorable as her jewelry..... Introduce yourself: I’m Jen from Nautical Wheeler Jewelry and I handcraft nautical and beach inspired jewelry for mermaids and salty souls. Where do you work from? I work from home...

Come dance with us

SO, I got myself up off the lounge room floor and did the 5 hours drive north of my home to Brisbane.  My back is doing great actually, my sciatic pain is gone completely... I just have this lingering calf pain, but I am ok.  I decided to bring my daughter with me to this trade show, and its amazing how well this 14 year old is doing in the big city. She built most of the booth for me!  She is good with the tools (all of those years of her watching us build the house, she must have noticed something). Here we are on set up day. What a great helper ! Anyway we made a little silly video this afternoon, when...

Where are we being worn?

It seems my complaints about sciatic agony is quite a common thing.... and I received SO MANY emails from our island friends over the last week, offering advice, love and prayers.  The best part though, was that a lot of you cheered me up by telling me where you are and that you are wearing my designs.... From Dawn...."I wore one of your dresses in Hopetown Abaco last week and more people wanted to know where I found such thin cotton. I told every person West Indies Wear".  Here is what Hopetown Abaco looks like.... From Cindy... "I am enjoying my 2nd day in Yosemite National Park and sitting on my porch next to the roaring falls wearing a West...
